Clinical Inquiry: Is arthroscopic subacromial decompression effective for shoulder impingement?
نویسندگان
چکیده
A It’s impossible to say for certain in the absence of randomized controlled trials. However, in patients whose impingement symptoms don’t improve after 3 to 6 months, arthroscopic subacromial decompression (ASD) is associated with modest (about 10%) longterm improvement in pain and function compared with open acromioplasty or baseline (strength of recommendation [SOR]: B, cohort studies). Patients older than 57 years may do better with surgery than physical therapy (SOR: B, single cohort study).

BACKGROUND/AIM To investigate the effects of conservative therapy applied before arthroscopic subacromial decompression on the clinical outcome in patients with stage 2 shoulder impingement syndrome. MATERIALS AND METHODS Sixty-eight patients having stage 2 shoulder impingement syndrome and treated with arthroscopic subacromial decompression were included in the study. We divided these patien...

متن کاملSubacromial impingement: is there correlation between symptoms, arthroscopic findings and outcomes?
Methods Fifty-five patients who underwent arthroscopic subacromial decompression were analyzed. Pre-operatively patients completed an assessment form consisting of visual analogue pain score, and shoulder satisfaction. The degree of clinical impingement was also recorded. At arthroscopy impingement was classified according to the Copeland-Levy classification. Post-operatively the shoulder asses...

Background: Open acromioplasty has classically been described as a method of treatment for subacromial shoulder impingement syndrome. However, the arthroscopic method of management has also recently gained wide popularity. Objective: The aim of this work was to present clinical outcome of arthroscopic decompression in the management of subacromial shoulder impingement syndrome. Study Design: A ...
متن کاملThe role of acromion morphology in chronic subacromial impingement syndrome.
This study investigated the role of acromion morphology in the aetiology of chronic subacromial impingement syndrome. Forty five patients with chronic subacromial impingement syndrome were included in the study. They were distributed into three groups according to their acromion types: six (13.3%) patients had type 1, 24 (533%) patients type 2 and 15 (333%) patients type 3 acromion. Constant sc...
